Child care educator reading to children at Papilio Ashburton

Our People

As educators, our job is to work alongside parents as a cohesive unit, to meet learning outcomes and achieve relevant goals for your child. We believe that all children have the right to learn unimpeded, and should be free to explore what they are interested in personally. Our long-term educators are genuinely dedicated to caring for children and are passionate about fostering their individuality every day.

All our lead educators and teachers have early childhood education qualifications. This level of knowledge is extremely valuable in delivering our School Readiness Program and Lifelong Learning Program which prepares your child for transitioning to school.

What makes you passionate about working in childcare? I love to see the world through the children’s eyes, through their imagination and understanding of their surroundings. The innocence and willingness to learn about all great things. I am passionate to know that they are cared for and appreciated for who they are.

What is the funniest or most memorable moment you can share from working in childcare? Its so hard to name one, there are plenty! It's never a dull day that's for sure and that's what makes being an educator so great. One thing that I will never forget is how excited the children get when they have news to share or something to tell you. It makes you realise how important you are to their day and that they have a sense of belonging.

Why do you believe your centre is an excellent choice for parents seeking the best childcare? Our centre provides a home away from home with care, nurture and the opportunity to grow. We work collaboratively with our families to ensure the children receive the best possible care. We encourage parent involvement throughout our curriculum. We are not only their teachers but their friends. We are strongly connected to our community and provide families with many opportunities be involved with the centre. We provide learning in a fun and creative manner and provide high quality care, educational excursions such as Parks,  Swimming pools for water safety, and Kew traffic school and incursions such as Happy Feet for music / fitness. We also provide a sporting program weekly.

Qualifications: I have completed my Certificate III and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

What makes you passionate about working in childcare? It makes me passionate to work in childcare when I see children’s development process and how far they can go with our care. Also, how our support to families and children helps us to build a strong community that goes above and beyond.

What is the funniest or most memorable moment you can share from working in childcare? There are so many memorable stories during my trajectory in childcare. One of them is when I just started working in the early years education and care and I was introducing myself to children, I could see their interest to know from where I come from as I have a distinct Colombian accent.

Why do you believe your centre is an excellent choice for parents seeking the best childcare? Our centre has a great team that are committed to nurture and care for children and to support families in the process. Through educators’ daily interactions we promote a cosy and welcoming environment to all the children, families, and staff, making them feel safe and comfortable to join our community at Papilio Ashburton. I believe that our centre is advocated to support the families in making children’s feel welcomed and belonged to our environment by offering a range of orientations previous their first day at childcare.
